Biography

Sayoko Wada | Classical Pianist

Sayoko Wada (also performing under the name Sadaeja Oh) is a rising classical pianist building an international career in both performance and education. Originally from Osaka, Japan, she is now based in Finland and active across the European classical music scene. She shares her passion for music both on stage and in the classroom.

International Education and Recognition

Sayoko has received advanced musical training in both the UK and Finland. She earned her first Master’s degree from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in 2022, followed by a second Master’s degree from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in 2024. Her studies have been supported by several prestigious scholarships, including a full scholarship from the Sibelius Academy, as well as grants from the Martin Wegelius Foundation and Finnish scholarship programs.

Perfromances and Achievements

Sayoko’s recent career highlights reflect both artistic excellence and growing international recognition. A standout moment came in July 2022, when she was selected to perform for King Charles III (then Prince of Wales). She also appeared at the BBC Proms as part of a large collaborative project between the Sibelius Academy and the Royal College of Music Orchestra, conducted by Sakari Oramo.

In 2025, she was a finalist in the Tampere Piano Competition, performing Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major with the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra.

Selected Awards:

  • Eric Hodges Memorial Prize, First Prize (2017): Selected as the representative pianist of the Royal Welsh College to perform at a distinguished London church.
  • Jury Special Prize - Kyoto International Competition (2019).
  • Final Stage - 18th International Chopin Piano Competition in ASIA

An active international performer, took part in the Crossing Keyboard tour in February 2023, performing across the Baltic States of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia..
